Bremen, Germany

Postcard dated: 29 January 2007

On the reverse of the postcard...

Greetings from the Free and Hanseatic City of Bremen! This is my first postcard from Bremen, hopefully the first of several. We, the Lafayette-International University of Bremen exchange group, arrived just a few days ago, and have had several good opportunites to explore and tour around in the city where we will be living for the next five months. Bremen gained power and fame because it was an important port city, and this strip used to be one of the busiest in Germany. After a while, the port was moved north (downstream) to Bremerhaven, near the coast, which is also part of the state of Bremen, to accomodate larger ships. The port lost importance during WWII and has not regained its former status, but it's still a nice town to explore and live in!

Grace and peace,
